Movie Matters

--------------------------------------------------------------

Watch this. I did. I like.

It gets you high. Then gets you squirming. Then gets you upchucking. Then gets you screaming. Then gets you comprehending. Then gets you rooting. Then gets you thinking. And gets you thinking. And gets you still thinking two days after the movie ended. And gets you thinking twice about things.

This is a what I call a movie. It moves you. After tearing you apart, that is.

And Quentin Tarantino is one helluva movie maestro. His movies are subliminal, his touch is gold (most-watched CSI episodes were by him!) and his knack for all things gory is spot-on. He should have been one of our lecturers in MassComm last time. No one would skip his lectures, MacTables would be empty during his teaching slots and Canteen One would sorely miss the absence of what one of my non-MassComm friends call the Poseur Posse. Everyone would be (surprise, surprise!!) hard at work, even though deadlines are still light years away. Heh.

Oh well, bygones.

Now let's see if this would live up to the hype, the name and of course, the book.

They have a lot to live up to. The book's still on New York Time's bestseller list, albeit climbing the ladder up and down and out more times than a bangla. Lots of illustrated guides, admirable spin-offs and total rip-offs have been churned out since the book's launching. Everyone wants a piece of the gold rush. Everyone who has read the book has been waiting with bated breath and papyrus nerves for the movie. Even the Pope and his geng at the Vatican tak puas hati and have issued statements about how tak puas hati they are. And we all know, when it comes to fame, no press is bad press.

And most important of all, they have to make up for disappointing me big time when they announced that Robert Langdon will be played by Forrest Gump.

Run, Robert, run!
