Selamat Hari Raya....TODAY!

Azim and I were wondering which 1st Syawal would be our 1st Syawal.

See, we started our Ramadhan in Dubai, a whole day earlier than Singapore. Which means while we were knee deep in religious obligation (chey chey chey...macaaammm real...okaylah..memang real!) faithfully embracing Ramadan's regulations and fasting from all things....erm...pleasurable, korang kat Singapore masih stuffing your pie-holes wokay?! I quote a certain other supernatural foodie in Singapore, "Aku masih makan macam nak rak pasal besok dah start posa!". Spoken like a true perakos. I so proud.

Anyway, kalau nak ikotkan Dubai, Azim and I smalam dah boleh start hooray-hooray with our baju raya while you slowpokes are still fasting and still deep in religious obligation, you know?! And technically, yesterday was our 1st Syawal since we started our Ramadhan a whole day earlier. With this technicality, it is therefore forbidden for us fast on the first day of Syawal. But since we're in Singapore now, does that mean we kena puasa one more day? But the place where we officially started Ramadhan is now in Syawal. So to fast or not to fast? If you must know, it is definately not the fasting factor that bothered us (oh fasting is the BEST diet plan ever!), it was the "eh nie betol ke tidak?" factor.

Then how ah?

Many wiser ones we consulted both in Dubai and Singapore gave us their rather varying takes on the matter. Which, obviously made us none the wiser. Bagoslah. So we decided to go with our gut feeling.......

....and thus, wholeheartedly, sincerely and warmly wish everyone a blessed Eid Al Fitr' today, the 24th of October 2006!!

Yes, kita puasa on the 23rd, Singapore's last day of Ramadhan. Yes, kita serbu Geylang in the wee hours of the morning, the last day of the bazaar. Yes, kita last minute action tolong bersihkan rumah padahal cuma nak curik kuih raya, the last thing we ate before we hit Geylang to stuff ourselves silly with dengdengs, takopachi, ayam percik and all other forms of greasy food on offer.

And yes, today is the first day of our second Raya together.



Mr and Mrs Raihan Azim hereby mengucapkan y'all Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Sila, at your own time, halalkan all the tersalah makan minum kami berdua. Maafkan, also at your own time, perkataan kesat, kental dan kelakar-koyak-tak-kena kami berdua. At the risk of sounding Hari Raya card cliched, dengan ingatan tulus ikhlas, hooray-hooray lah korang hor this Raya!

(Oh and kindly pardon the koyak Malay!)

Okay, now it's time to get fat, round and chubby again. Bring on the seven-types-of-rendang fiesta!


PS: With all due respect, to anyone interested in giving me religious guidance based on the Syawal confusion I mentioned in this post....tak payah lah hokay?! Cerita pon dah habis and kita pon dah Raya so thanks but no thanks. :) Unless you're the Mufti of The World, please refrain from leaving any holier-than-thou statements in my just-out-of-rehab comment system. And if by any strange chance you are the Mufti of The World..Sir, I'm not the one you're looking for. I actually fairly good Muslim girl, you know?!

PPS: After careful review of my previous post, I realized what a brave brave brave girl I am to put up pics of my scarymary eyebags, makeupless visage and nampaksah-tak-beros-gigi smile. Korang tak demam terkejot ke?! What was I thinking....or NOT thinking? Oh the perils of penat gila. It's true...exhaustion can lead to extinction. The complete extinction of logic and shame, that is! :P
